Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled in the vibrant neighborhood of Montreal, Laon is a charming Korean restaurant that offers an authentic taste of Korea’s rich culinary traditions with a cozy, unpretentious vibe. Despite its modest size, Laon serves as a culinary haven where the warmth of Korean hospitality meets thoughtfully prepared dishes that comfort both the stomach and the soul.

The menu is a delightful showcase of Korean favorites, expertly crafted to satisfy a variety of cravings. Start your experience with their perfectly crispy Jeon—seafood pancakes brimming with squid, shrimp, and clams—that remain satisfyingly crunchy even until the last bite. Appetizers like the deep-fried Dakangjung chicken and Tofukangjung tofu offer an irresistible crunch wrapped in savory, subtly sweet glazes. For those seeking heartier fare, the Donkatsu fried pork with rice impresses with its golden crust and tender interior, while the Seafood Jjigae Soft Tofu Stew warm you from the inside out with its rich, spicy, and comforting broth.

What truly sets Laon apart is the atmosphere that envelops you from the moment you step inside—a blend of chill, calm, and inviting energy. Frequently praised by patrons for its relaxed ambiance, it’s the kind of spot where students and locals alike can unwind over a meal that feels both like a treat and like home. The service matches the quality of the food with attentive, friendly staff who effortlessly balance professionalism and warmth, making every visit feel personal and welcoming.

Laon's location near student housing reflects in its approachable, reasonable prices—perfect for budget-conscious diners who don’t want to compromise on taste. The restaurant’s intimate setting lends itself to quiet moments, making it a great stop for a quick meal or a comforting dinner after a busy day.

Customer testimonials echo a consistent theme of satisfaction: from nostalgia-driven experiences to the vibrant flavors that break away from typical Montreal fare, Laon has earned admiration for being a reliable sanctuary for Korean cuisine lovers. Whether savoring the spicy tang of kimchi, the golden crisp of shrimp tempura, or the soothing depth of soondubu jjigae, diners leave with a sense that this small, unassuming restaurant punches well above its weight.

For those craving an authentic, flavor-packed Korean meal in Montreal’s du Parc area, Laon isn’t just a restaurant—it’s an experience that fills your heart and stomach with happiness and warmth.

I've been here several times and it is very small but the service is always top notch. Food is also really good. There's a great selection of Korean dishes that should satisfy everyone.

A small unassuming korean resto with affordable menu prices that hits the spot! It really feels like one of those places that is not too polished inside out but be rest assured that the food will talk for itself. Its located near student housing/dorms so make sense its really catering for their budgets. We got a seafood jjigae soft tofu stew to share between two people (if you come with a big appetite, might just be enough for 1 person). The rice bowl size was my only complain. Been to a handful of korean restaurants in montreal and even during my visit in Seoul and they usually come in this silver metal bowl. But for Laon, the rice portion is a little bit too small. Other than that the stew was comforting and yummy :)

They opened on Christmas Day! It was like the place I always went during my college years. Affordable, cozy and delicious food that warmed your stomach and soul. Laon meant happiness and warmth, which they delivered both.

If you’re seeking East Asian food in the midst of poutine and burgers this is the place. On my 3rd day in Montreal, this hit the spot for flavor packed comfort meal. We got the jeon (seafood pancake) - so crispy even when we had the last pieces toward the end of the meal, the cheolpan (pork on hot plate) - so saucy and just the perfect spice level, and soondubu jigae (tofu soup) - stayed hot throughout the meal since it’s in a stone pot and the flavor wasn’t the the typical one from like BCD but still great. Owner also offered vegetable dumplings as service since it was New Year’s Eve, the dumplings looked unassuming but they were packed and HOT. The flavors, the temp of the food, oh and the cute vibes of the store really hit. The owner was also super considerate, without asking, he provided cute bowls, extra utensil sets, and extra napkins when we said we were going to share the meal. He had brought each dish out on a serving plate intended for individual consumption but was quick to move the dishes into a shared setup when we said we will share the dishes. Perfection

I would give 1000/5 stars if I could. We go here often and always come back for the cheolpan and the side dishes that come with it. The food is so good that every special day, whether it’s a birthday, anniversary or Valentine’s day, we choose to come here. It’s our favorite!

Got the seafood pancake and the Cheolpan (beef and rice and soup and side appetizers, really worth the price), and they were so fresh and delicious. The beef was tender and the seafood pancake was crazy good. I mean just LOOK at the picture
